The story is about a young woman who teaches herself magic, is on trial for exposing magic to muggles, and must defend herself. The story is more sci-fi than fantasy, but will leave you believing that anything is possible in the world of magic and miracles. This is a short story told of elsewhere in the universe of Harry Potter, and involves a unique set of characters.
Self-Made Witch is a work of original fan fiction.
What's Going On? 2019-01-13 16:09:49 I ended 2018 winning a short story contest. Does that mean I can start referring to myself as Doug Schwartz, AWA?*
In the past few years, I have shied away from declaring resolutions at the start of the new year. But, I have set myself some goals for 2019...
After submitting the final quarter of the collection of short stories to Bill, my editor, I aim to release this collection sometime this year. There are a few more rewrites, and one more pass over the changes. The cover art. Formatting. Premarketing stuff. And other stuff to prep for the release, but it should be doable by year's end.
The next draft of the Checkered Scissors sequel is complete, but still seems to be missing that little something. I have some notes on how to improve this, then I will ship it off to my editor.
I have storyboarded my next children's book. I intend to do the artwork myself. That was my intention for Spilt Milk. Many years later, I hired Jordan. This story, it's a little more personal. Plus, I'm itching to reaquaint myself with the drawing pad I got from a past birthday.
Speaking of birthdays, 2019 is not a milestone birthday, but I have an itch to do something more than dinner with the family for my birthday. I'm planning a weekend event to celebrate. Stay tuned for more details!
One last goal, I aim to get back into writing approximately 500 words per weekday (2500 words a week). I know I wrote about 2200 words this week, and then edited Miss Kitty down below 2000 (per contest rules).
In other projects, I am continuing the Peggy's 2020 vision project.
